GIANTS IN THE EARTH

DRAMATIS PERSONAE

THE MAGI

Kandace filia Lilith scholae Criamones:
Once a Nubian slave girl taken in by Egyptian Jews, this cryptic maga specializes in the study of the Kabala. She can only work magic when poisoned, and so she keeps a sizable collection of snakes, scorpions, and other venomous creatures.

Academus Erronis filius Claudius scholae Bonisagi:
A true scholar among magi, Academus has spent many years combing European monasteries for forgotten caches of classical lore.

Augustinius Vitalis filius Marcus Caeruleus scholae Jerbitonis:
This devout young magus struggles constantly to understand his place in the divine plan. His specialization in plant magic has proven difficult to employ in the desert wastes surrounding the Covenant.

Miach Terrenus filius Ambrosius ex Miscellanea:
A frail, socially awkward Scottish magus. While his aptitude with elemental magic has proven invaluable to the covenant, his non-Hermetic training and his reptilian Sigil have awoken some suspicions among his brethren.

Minerva Arcis filius Rufus Urbanus scholae Jerbitonis:
A young, inexperienced Provençal maga with a strong streak of curiosity.

THE COMPANIONS

Cantara:
A failed apprentice in service to Kandace. She provides the administrative know-how that the Covenant will need to sustain itself.

Octavian:
Miach's manservant, a burly Moor who rarely speaks.

Sir Renaud:
Once a knight, Renaud has sworn an oath of service to the Order of Hermes. He directs the grogs of the Covenant, and is himself a warrior of some skill. Taken on by the magi during their first visit to Schola Concordiae.

Jean de la Roche:
A small, whip-thin man from Provence, given to smiles and dramatic flourishes. Apparently sent to guard Minerva by her vulgar father.

Ahmed:
An Arab guide, hired by Academus in Alexandria. Old and leathery, his habit of chewing betel nut has stained his teeth a dull red.

THE GROGS

Big Ali:
An old caravan guard, hired in Alexandria to guard the magi in their travels.

Hassan:
Another old soldier from Alexandria.

Little Ali:
Thin and quick, Little Ali is little more than a boy. Traumatized when an airy spirit of the desert asked the magi to yield him up as a snack. Hired in Alexandria.

Mustafa:
Another boy hired in Alexandria to guard the magi.

Waseem:
Yet another adventurous boy hired in Alexandria.

THE DECEASED

Rashid:
Grog. Yet another old soldier from Alexandria. Slain in his sleep by dark magic, one week after the raising of the desert tower.

The Old Man:
This taciturn old priest commands the white-robed guardians of the ruined city of Antaeopolis.

The leader of a band of desert nomads. A devout Muslim, but not so devout as to pass up the water at the covenant's well.

This pinch-faced, brusque maga led the quaesitorial party that visited Ænigma to examine the new covenant's charter.

Alsius, Quaesitor ex Flambeau:
A pale, waxy magus with an impossibly high forehead beneath thin dark hair. Aloof. Radiates a palpable aura of cold.

Elicon scholae Mercandi:
An old, weathered Redcap, sent to accompany Veratra and Alsius.

Michael Procursator doctrinae Tremendi:
Hard and lean, with close-cropped hair and a tight mouth. Bears a sword. One of the hoplites guarding Veratra's quaesitorial party.

Briareus Fortis doctrinae Flambonis:
A handsome man, tall and broad-shouldered, his skin the color of mahogany. Equable of temperament. One of the hoplites guarding Veratra's quaesitorial party.

Moradira scholae Tremendi:
A sour, gray-haired Slavic maga of few words. Apparently holds authority over the other Tremere of Oculus Vigilans.
